Emotional Energy – What is Yours?

In itself, emotional energy is neutral. It is the feeling sensation and physiological reaction that makes a specific emotion positive or negative. Feeling is what you label as anger, sadness, joy or fear (glad, mad sad or afraid). It is then your interpretations or thoughts about emotional energy that give it meaning.

I once coauthored a book “Stress Reduction Through Honesty In Communication” with the late John Twelker, ED where we described how difficult it seems for two people to understand the emotional state of the other during diablog unless there is complete trust and acceptance. We realized in writing the book how people take for granted that what we say is what we mean. The current explosion of texting among the young generation, while keeping socially connected, lacks the positive feelings that are difficult to express in words alone. Often well meaning statements are taken as a criticism or threat. The question begs an answer, “Why do we take words to be either positive or negative?” The answer lies in a number of factors leading up to the actual event.
